Two brothers were tracking a deer in a Michigan corn field when one of them heard a rustling, spotted something moving, and opened fire. The man shot his brother, not a deer, reports the Detroit Free Press. The 28-year-old victim was flown to a hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition. Police say the other brother, 29, called 911 immediately after realizing his mistake. One of them had shot a deer earlier, and they were trying to track it down in a dense corn field when they became separated, explains the Ionia County Sheriff's Office in a news release. Police are treating it as an accidental shooting and say both men have been cooperative in the investigation. (More hunting stories.)
