In a Connecticut Home, 2 Grim Discoveries
Venessa Morales.   (Ansonia Police Department Facebook)

Police responding to a welfare-check request related to a Connecticut woman who didn't show up for work Monday made a grim discovery—and then a troubling second one. While police are revealing little about the unnamed Ansonia woman, they say she was found dead inside, and that "she did not die of natural causes." But police are giving one name: Venessa Morales. She's the 1-year-old daughter of the dead woman, and she should have been in the home; she wasn't.

WFSB reports the last known sighting of Venessa was on Friday. Local and state police and the FBI are now assisting in the investigation into the homicide and the missing child. The Connecticut Post reports Venessa's father, who did not live in the home, has been cooperating with authorities. Police referenced having leads but no suspects. (More missing child stories.)
