There was so much criticism of the Bush administration at the GOP debate last night the Republican White House hopefuls sounded like Democrats. John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Tommy Thompson all cranked up criticism of the administration's handling of the war. The president's diplomatic deficiencies and stand on immigration also took a beating, the AP reports.

There was a moment of levity when a lightning bolt interrupted Rudy Giuliani's defense of his position on abortion rights.  "For someone who went to parochial schools all his life," Giuliani quipped, "this is a very frightening thing that's happening right now."  (More John McCain stories.)
