This holiday weekend, Hollywood got its favorite gift of all: ticket sales, Variety reports. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker led the 6.3% box-office spike over last year's frame, raking in a domestic $72 million, followed by Jumanji: The Next Level ($35 million), Little Women ($16.5 million), Frozen 2 ($16.5 million), and Spies in Disguise ($13.2 million), per Box Office Mojo. Newcomer Little Women attracted mostly female viewers with its great reviews, per the Hollywood Reporter, while Cats ($8.7 million) felt little Christmas cheer and fell to ninth spot amid crushing reviews. Another noteworthy debut was suspense thriller Uncut Gems, which is generating awards talk for Adam Sandler's performance despite a fairly low C+ CinemaScore. (So-so reviews may have slowed Skywalker.)
