A Florida man obsessed with harassing the parents of murdered children has been arrested and charged with unlawful possession of the personal identification of another person. Authorities say Wolfgang Halbig—who has long claimed that the December 2012 massacre of 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a hoax—sent personal identification details of Leonard Pozner, including his Social Security number and other information, to hundreds of people, Spectrum News reports. Noah, Pozner's 6-year-old son, was killed in the Connecticut mass shooting. Halbig, 73, faces up to a year in prison if convicted. He was released on $5,000 bond Monday and is due back in court in late February.
Halbig, a former public school security administrator, has tormented Sandy Hook parents who challenged his conspiracy theories by releasing their personal details and sending them photographs he claimed were of their children "all grown up," the New York Times reports. "For five years, he has used my most personal and private details to incentivize and enable other hoaxers and conspiracy theorists to hunt, abuse, and terrorize myself and my family," Pozner says. "We have a long way to go, but this is a positive step in the right direction." Halbig is a former contributor to Alex Jones' Infowars website, though a lawyer for Jones—who has Sandy Hook legal woes of his own—says Halbig and his views "have long been in the rearview mirror."
