A California man whose wife was killed in a hit-and-run may have tracked down the killer all by himself, NBC Los Angeles reports. Rod Richardson's wife Brenda, 48, died Thursday in Corona after a white Lexus hit her motorcycle the day before. For Rod and their children, the grief was crushing: "When you have your older kids falling on the ground crying cause they have no control," he says. "Your younger kids waking you up in the middle of the night saying they missed her, it's a lot." Feeling the need to take action, Rod says he went looking for the white Lexus, and at the intersection where the hit-and-run happened, he noticed a gated entrance for an apartment block nearby.
"Something was on my heart, tugging me, saying you need to go in," he says. So he walked in, and there it was: a white 2006 Lexus ES330 with damage to the sun roof and passenger's side door, per the Press-Enterprise. On Friday, police arrested car owner Tashiro Isa, 85, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. Whether this curbs any grief is something else. "I loved my wife with all my heart—the pain is horrible," Rod writes on Facebook. "She was the person I was going to grow old with that helped with all the crazy ideas. … She was the feather people fell on for comfort." A GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs says Brenda was "a very proud Navy veteran" who leaves behind eight children. (More hit-and-run stories.)
