A Texas exotic dancer has gone viral for a terrifying reason: Genea Sky fell 15 feet while pole dancing over the weekend, only to immediately get up and start twerking again. The scary video went viral after being posted online Sunday, with many nicknaming Sky "the bounceback stripper" and some using the video as a meme. But the incident is no laughing matter, Sky said in an emotional Instagram video Sunday. She fractured her jaw, cracked some teeth, sprained her ankle, and required some stitches in her face. She posted again Monday after surgery to wire her jaw shut. "I am in a tremendous amount of pain but i am ready for this road to recovery so I can get back to my life," she wrote. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Sky—because, as TMZ reports, Dallas' XTC Cabaret says it is not responsible for her medical bills.

Why? Because the club doesn't tell entertainers what to do for their routines; it was Sky's choice to ascend the pole, so the club says it's not responsible for what happened after. She's also not a full-time employee, so not eligible for workers' compensation, and it's not clear whether she has health insurance. Sky posted later Monday that she supports herself fully and is putting herself through school, so on top of the medical bills, she'll need to pay living expenses during the time she's out of work to recover. (She also has no desire to return to dancing once she does recover, friends tell TMZ.) The Washington Post notes the frightening situation shines a light on the strip club industry, which often treats dancers as "contractors" rather than employees. "We need to unionize Strip Clubs so badly," reads one sample tweet. "@Genea_Sky should have gotten workers comp and paid leave." (More exotic dancer stories.)
