Comic Great Harvey Korman Dead at 81

Harvey Korman, who gained comic fame with his bust-a-gut sketches on the "Carol Burnett Show" in the 1960s and 70s, has died at age 81 from complications of an aneurysm, the AP reports. Korman won four Emmys for his TV work, often pairing with Burnett or Tim Conway. He had success on the big screen, too, most notably as Hedley (not Hedy!) Lamarr in Blazing Saddles.

"It takes a certain type of person to be a television star," he said in 2005, reflecting on his own show's flop. "I didn't have whatever that is. I come across as kind of snobbish and maybe a little too bright. Give me something bizarre to play or put me in a dress and I'm fine." (More obituary stories.)
