Britney Spears should be feeling the love after Wednesday's court hearing in Los Angeles, where she pleaded for her 13-year conservatorship to end. The 39-year-old singer said she felt "enslaved" by her father, who "loved the control he had over me," per US Weekly. Jamie Spears responded in a statement, per NBC News. "Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain," it said. "Mr. Spears loves his daughter and her sister very much." An outpouring of support for the singer followed from celebrities. "Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was … what's happening to her is just not right," tweeted Justin Timberlake, a former boyfriend who apologized for his treatment of Spears earlier this year. "No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body … No one should EVER be held against their will."

"F--- anyone who thinks they have the authority as an institution or individual to control a person's reproductive health," tweeted singer Halsey. "Bless Britney and I hope with my whole heart she is awarded freedom from this abusive system," she added. "We love you Britney!!! Stay strong," tweeted Mariah Carey. Singer Brandy sent her love, as did the dating app Grindr, while Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rose McGowan, and Vera Wang were among celebrities to use the #FreeBritney hashtag, per BuzzFeed and Fox News. The View host Meghan McCain went so far as to suggest Spears was the victim of a human rights crime. "Isolation, controlling her capacity to reproduce without her consent, forcing her to work under inhumane conditions," she tweeted. "If she were any other person the people who did this to her would be in jail." (More Britney Spears stories.)
