Ivanovic lost 6-1, 6-4 to Zheng, who entered the Centre Court match ranked No. 133. Ivanovic earned the No. 1 ranking after a victory at the French Open. The 20-year-old Serbian player had to save two match points in her second-round win over Nathalie Dechy. She had no answer for the powerful shots from Zheng, a former Wimbledon doubles champion.
