A man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman tried to jump out a sixth-floor hotel room window while being questioned by Ohio police—only to bounce back. Police responded to a hotel in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash on Sunday after a front desk attendant requested a welfare check for a female guest, who was in the company of a man. "She was kind of shaking a little bit and seemed very nervous," the Quality Inn employee said in a 911 call, per WCPO. "He couldn't see me and I mouthed, 'Do you need help,' and she nodded and blinked her eyes."

Police say the man had turned up at the woman's room before beating her, sexually assaulting her, and choking her until she fell unconscious. He also allegedly prevented her from using her cellphone and disconnected the phone in the hotel room. Officers had separated the couple and begun questioning 20-year-old Onjre Damon George of Cincinnati when he tried to bolt, per Fox News. Body camera footage shows the suspect standing with an officer near the entrance to the room, then darting toward a large window on the opposite side.

"Where are you going," the officer asks just before George slams hard into the reinforced glass and bounces back, landing on his feet. George—who police say had a prior relationship with his alleged victim—was taken into custody on charges of kidnapping, rape, and assault. "I'm about to jump. Don't tase me," he allegedly said before being placed in handcuffs, per Fox. The woman described him as suicidal. He's now held at Hamilton County Jail with bond set at $200,000, per WLWT. Meanwhile, Blue Ash Police Chief Scott Noel is planning to give an award to the hotel employee who recognized the woman's distress; he calls her a hero. (More kidnapping stories.)
