A Texas man was shot and killed late Sunday after authorities say he confronted two men who were dropping off his teenage stepdaughters. Kevin Adams, 48, had ongoing issues with the two men his stepdaughters were dating, of whom he did not approve, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. As the group arrived at Adams' home in Crosby, northeast of Houston, around 11pm, the stepfather went outside to confront them and got into a physical altercation with one of the men, deputies say, per McClatchy. The man's friend then pulled out a gun and shot Adams several times, according to the report.

Adams, who was lying in the street when first responders arrived, was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are still searching for the two men, who left the scene in a white Chevy Impala, per KHOU. "As of right now, we're mainly working on identifying those suspects," Sgt. Jason Brown says, per KTRK. He adds there are several witnesses including the stepdaughters, aged 16 and 17, who remained at the scene and are cooperating in the investigation, along with Adams' wife, who witnessed the altercation from inside the home. Deputies say they also have surveillance video from the neighborhood. (More shooting death stories.)
