Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was sacked last weekend by Atlanta Falcons defensive end Grady Jarrett, a play that ended up earning Jarrett a controversial penalty for roughing the passer. Now, a hefty financial punishment has been handed down by the NFL—but it will be Brady paying it, not Jarrett, per NBC Sports. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter revealed Friday that Brady was hit by the league with an $11,139 fine. The reason? After Brady was knocked to the ground by Jarrett during the fourth-quarter sack, Brady kicked at him (watch it here.)

CBS Sports notes the dollar amount Brady has to fork over is what NFL rules say a player has to pay for a first offense during a season; the second time around, the fine jumps to $16,444. Both NBC and CBS report that Brady also appeared to kick at Jarrett during the first quarter of Sunday's game, but the refs either didn't notice, didn't think it qualified as a violation, or looked the other way. The last time Brady received a fine for this was in 2013, when he kicked former Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed during an AFC championship matchup. Brady got bonked $10,000 that time.
