In her songs and storytelling, Adele said she relies on what she calls her "passion" for English literature. She plans to deepen that knowledge, the Washington Post reports. "I really want to get a degree in English Literature," the singer told fans at an event this week in Los Angeles. "I wish I had gone to university, I wish I'd had that experience." She starts a residency next month at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and intends to begin her new course of study in 2025, after her commitment in Las Vegas ends.
If her singing career hadn't worked out, Adele said Tuesday at an event touting the release of her new video, "I Drink Wine," she might have starred in a classroom. "I think I’d be an English lit teacher," the star told fans, per the Los Angeles Times. During a TV special last year, Adele said she learned to appreciate the subject from a teacher who was "so bloody cool, so engaging, she really made us care." That's who made her "fall in love with books," the singer said this week. Once she enrolls, classmates will not be bumping into Adele in the Student Union, however. "I won't go to a university, I'll do it online and with a tutor, but that's my plan for 2025," she said. "It's just to get the qualifications." (More Adele stories.)
