Celebrity Jeopardy! tested contestants on Sunday with a category related to the letter "A"—and of the thousands of clues it could have offered related to alligators, it opted to go with one involving dead fugitive Brian Laundrie. WFLA reports actors John Michael Higgins, Wil Wheaton, and Joel Kim Booster were given this clue this by host Mayim Bialik: "In 2021, fugitive Brian Laundrie ended his days in Fla’s Myakkahatchee Creek area, home to these long & toothy critters." Laundrie committed suicide in that park, and left a notebook in which he confessed to killing girlfriend Gabby Petito. Booster offered the correct answer.

Laundrie's family, along with a number of viewers, were scathing in their response. One such tweet: "One of the worst answers ever tonight, @Jeopardy. The Brian Laundrie one showed a complete lack of class and total disrespect." Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino had this to say to TMZ: "The entire Laundrie family is appalled and concurs with all of the comments on social media on how distasteful this was. I believe an apology is due." (TMZ has video here.)
