The second round of the PGA Championship didn't get off to a great start for world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He was arrested outside the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, early Friday after trying to drive around a crash scene, reports ESPN. According to Jefferson County court records, he faces a felony charge of second-degree assault on a police officer, CNN reports. He has also been charged with third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding signals from officers directing traffic.
- Scheffler kept driving toward the golf club entrance after a police officer ordered him to stop, according to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident. "The police officer attempted to attach himself to Scheffler's car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla," Darlington said in a post on X. "The police officer then began to scream at Scheffler to get out of the car. When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer shoved Scheffler against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs." Darlington also shared video of the incident.
