Young Republicans Staking Out Positions on the Web

Online activism has long been a strength of the Democratic party, but a group of young Republicans is taking its message to the Internet in an attempt to sway younger voters, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. MoveRed.org is attempting to make up lost ground for the GOP online by targeting young voters with its own YouTube series.

The “Republican on the Street” videos interrogate Seattle voters about the election and their personal political views. "The videos are really unique and something a lot of people saw on a grass-roots level," says Peter Cowman, the group’s director. Cowman has been posting the interview segments to YouTube and Facebook, as well as organizing rallies for the state Republican Party. (More internet stories.)
