(AP Photo/NBC, Margaret Norton) John McCain shunned tradition today by grabbing media attention during his opponent's convention kick-off, Politico reports. At a high school in Phoenix, McCain trotted out supporter and reggaeton star Daddy Yankee. McCain "has been a fighter for the Hispanic community… a fighter for immigration," Daddy Yankee told students at the 75% Latino school. McCain will later stop by The Tonight Show and then hit up celebrities for cash at a Los Angeles fundraiser. Notable guests at the $500, Beverly Hilton event include Jon Voight and Robert Duvall. Such stars are planning to boost McCain's media attention and attend the GOP convention next month, Variety reports. (More celebrity stories.) Report an error
