Colorado authorities say at least three people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to assassinate Barack Obama during his acceptance speech Thursday at Invesco Field, the Rocky Mountain News reports. Four weapons, including two high-powered scope rifles, have been seized. Sources told Denver's 9NEWS that the suspects have links to white supremacist groups, though one federal official suggested the alleged plot may be no more than just bluster.

One of the suspects allegedly told police that they planned "to shoot Obama from a high vantage point." Police in Aurora made the arrests after a routine traffic stop turned up weapons and methamphetamines in a suspect's car. The arrest led them to possible accomplices. One man dived out a sixth-floor window to escape investigators but was quickly captured. Authorities plan a news conference on the case this afternoon.
