Brett Favre debuted in style with the New York Jets today and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees gave storm-weary fans something to celebrate—but New England Patriots' QB Tom Brady hobbled off the field in pain:

  • The recently unretired Favre led the Jets to a 20-14 win over the Miami Dolphins, finishing 15-for-22 for 194 yards and two touchdowns, Newsday reports.

  • Brady limped to the locker room after a hard first quarter tackle against the Kansas City Chiefs and didn’t return, the AP reports. With backup quarterback Matt Cassel at the helm, the Patriots held on to win 17-10.
  • Brees passed for 343 yards and three touchdowns to lift the Saints 24-20 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who only mustered one touchdown.
  • In other action, the Dallas Cowboys crushed rumored contender Cleveland Browns 28-10, and the Baltimore Ravens scored the AFC North's first division victory by beating the Cincinnati Bengals 17-10, ESPN reports.
