Media | Terry Moran Moran on His Trump Post: I Don't Regret Telling 'Truth' Former ABC News correspondent says his post was 'accurate' By Evann Gastaldo Posted Jun 17, 2025 1:30 AM CDT Copied Terry Moran of "Nightline" speaks during the ABC Press Tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., Thursday, July 26, 2007. (AP Photo/Nick Ut, File) Terry Moran says he has no regrets. The former senior national correspondent for ABC News is speaking out after the network cut ties with him due to his social media post about President Trump and his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller. "I wrote it because I thought it was true," Moran said in an interview with the Bulwark on Substack, as cited by USA Today. Moran's since-deleted post referred to Trump as a "world-class hater" and Miller as "a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred." Speaking to the Bulwark, Moran argued that as a journalist, his job is not to be "objective" but rather to be "fair and accurate"—and he said his post was "accurate and true." Moran, who is now posting to Substack himself, also clarified that, despite the fact that he posted his controversial remarks after midnight, it "wasn't a drunk tweet." He said he'd simply been thinking about the state of the country and decided to post his thoughts after putting his kids to bed, the New York Times reports. "I typed it out and I looked at it, and I thought, 'That's true.' And I hit send." He argued that he "needed" to use the "very strong language" he chose in order to describe Miller "accurately," as journalists should. He said he believes Miller is dangerous. "I don't think you should ever regret telling the truth. And I don't." Read These Next "Admiral Piett" of the Star Wars universe died from COVID.
