Quenton Marselles Brown, father of Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, is facing attempted murder charges after a violent altercation in a Las Vegas parking lot, according to local police. The trouble began Wednesday when Brown allegedly dinged the door of another man's car, sparking a confrontation that quickly escalated. Witnesses say Brown brandished a knife and stabbed the man multiple times, CNN reports.
The aftermath was grim: According to a police report, the victim was hospitalized in critical condition with "a stab wound in the middle of his back, a stab wound in his upper right chest clavicle area, a defensive wound to his left hand that penetrated to his tendons, a slice wound that necessitated a partial gastrectomy to remove part of his digestive system, eviscerated bowels, and a broken right rib that may require surgery to repair."
Brown is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center. The Celtics have not yet commented on the incident, though a source confirmed to the AP that the suspect is indeed Jaylen Brown's father. The elder Brown, 57, is a former pro boxer who goes by the name Marselles, the Athletic reports. A police report states that when police stopped Brown's SUV after the incident, he "spontaneously uttered that this was all over a door ding without being asked any questions by Patrol officers," reports News 3.
