Search teams looking for a missing Texas college student have discovered a body near her home, authorities say. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Tuesday that a body was found in a field roughly 100 yards from where 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos lived in the San Antonio area, CBS News reports. The remains have not been formally identified, but the person was wearing clothes "very similar" to what investigators believe Mendoza Olmos had on when she was last seen on Christmas Eve, the sheriff said.

The area had been checked earlier in the search, Salazar said, but teams from the sheriff's office and the FBI went back over it because of tall grass. The body was discovered around 4:45pm. A firearm was found nearby, and investigators had also been looking for a missing gun belonging to a family member, according to the sheriff. Salazar said investigators currently do not suspect foul play. He said one possibility investigators were looking at was self-harm, and "there are some indicators that the body that we found may be as a result of that," People reports.

"From what has been described to us, it sounds like it was a young person going through a very tough time in their life, going through some emotional issues," the sheriff said. "There were some indicators of suicidal ideation." The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and make a positive identification. "We hope that we can expedite that process to try to get the community answers," Salazar said.
