The 2008 election is so important that some Jewish kids may actually visit their grandparents voluntarily. That's the theory behind “The Great Schlep,” an initiative urging young Jews to fly to Florida over Columbus Day weekend and lobby their relatives for Barack Obama. The sponsor is a pro-Obama Jewish group, but more important, it has a celebrity spokesman: Sarah Silverman.
The Schlep’s website has talking points and contact information for Schleppers, but the real draw is a video of the foul-mouthed beauty outlining the plan. You can watch the video at left, but be warned: It's vintage Silverman. “If Barack Obama doesn’t become the next president of the United States, I’m going to blame the Jews,” she begins, and it’s pretty much downhill from there.
