Kristi Noem became the first member of President Trump's second-term Cabinet to lose her job. Will Pam Bondi be the second? The New York Times, ABC News, and CNN report that Trump has been talking to close aides in recent days about replacing his attorney general. The accounts are based on unnamed insiders, and all name Lee Zeldin, who currently runs the Environmental Protection Agency, as a leading candidate to succeed Bondi should Trump go ahead with the move.

Trump is reportedly frustrated with Bondi for two main reasons: He thinks she mishandled the Jeffrey Epstein files and hasn't been aggressive—or successful—enough in going after his political enemies. CNN notes that Trump chief of staff Susie Wiles has been a strong advocate for Bondi, though even Wiles previously acknowledged to a Vanity Fair reporter that Bondi had "completely whiffed" on the Epstein files. The issue may intensify in the coming weeks, with Bondi scheduled to appear before a House panel on April 14 to discuss her department's investigation into Epstein.
