The man who prosecuted Scooter Libby for obstruction of justice may be grilled by senators  investigating the case, Bloomberg reports. Leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee said yesterday they want to question Patrick Fitzgerald on the case, including sentencing guidelines. In commuting Libby's sentence last week, President Bush claimed it was too harsh to fit the crime.

Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy called the commutation "a blatant way of guaranteeing" that Libby would not reveal administration secrets. Libby was convicted of lying during an investigation into who had outed CIA agent Valerie Plame. "There are a lot of ramifications we ought to go into," said Sen. Arlen Specter, the committee's ranking Republican. (More Lewis Scooter Libby stories.)
