LA Galaxy owner Alexi Lalas, who shelled out roughly $250 million to bring aging superstar David Beckham to U.S. soccer, fretted publicly that Beckham must focus on the game and not the enhancement of his celebrity. The announcement came four days before the star's unveiling in the movie capital of the world.

The former England captain's debut will be against Chelsea on July 21st. Said Lalas: "Since the announcement of his signing, it's been crazy. Albeit good crazy. The eyes of the world are upon us now and we want to make sure we use that to our gain." (More soccer stories.)
