The latest big Republican to jump ship, at least temporarily, is a former Massachusetts governor who supported Mitt Romney in the primaries. Barack Obama is a "once-in-a-lifetime candidate" with "common values" and "an ability to unite and inspire," says William Weld. The Democrats have Massachusetts in the bag, but Weld’s support could help with neighboring New Hampshire, writes the Boston Globe. (More Republican Party stories.)
