The life of a stylist is all about communication. When Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live, the show's designer had to convince her to scrap her fancy new clothes and instead dress the way she used to—in essence, to dress as the character of Sarah Palin as played by Tina Fey rather than the new (and more expensive) version of herself, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

“I had to get her to understand why she needed to wear the same thing as Tina. We had gone off and created it for the first time a month ago, a look we identified as Sarah Palin. I said, ‘I know you’ve moved on, you’re wearing tighter clothes, more black, but this is the character of Sarah Palin.’’ They compromised. Palin did as asked for the first skit but returned in newer duds for the second. (More Saturday Night Live stories.)
