A young Muslim juror may face jail time for contempt of court after allegedly listening to her MP3 player beneath her hijab during a murder trial in Britain. The judge thought he heard "tinny music" in the courtroom, but chalked it up to his own imagination, reports the Times.
He didn't dismiss her until a defense lawyer reported seeing wires under her hijab and a fellow juror passed him a note accusing her of listening to music during testimony of a man who bludgeoned his disabled wife to death. An MP3 player was later found in her purse, the Times Online reports. The remaining 11 jurors found the man guilty. (More Islamic veil stories.)
