Bikini Anchor Shouldn't Have Been Fired

As disgraced TV anchor Amy Jacobson pled her case in a series of interviews all over Chicago media today, Tribune blogger Eric Zorn made the (unpopular) case that she shouldn't have been fired. Accepting an invitation to a pool party at the home of a man she was covering showed bad judgment. But it's credible that she did it with legitimate intentions, he argues.

 

And if it had been a man—not a woman in a bikini—jumping at the chance to interview the dodgy Craig Stebic, whose estranged wife disappeared in April, he would have been congratulated for his enterprise, Zorn argues. Taking Jacobson's side, he notes, is the single most unpopular thing he's ever done on his blog. But he's staying the course.
