Barack Obama held a hush-hush meeting with Hillary Clinton yesterday, fueling rumors his former rival could be offered the Secretary of State post in his Cabinet. Journalists following Obama last night spotted an unidentified motorcade of about three SUVs pulling out of Obama’s transition headquarters in Chicago, minutes before Obama himself left. Officials tell Politico the motorcade was Clinton’s.

Obama requested the meeting, sources tell CNN. Clinton “knew Obama wanted to talk about whether she would have a role in the administration,” a source close to her said, but was genuinely surprised by the Secretary of State rumors. Key Obama advisers argue that Clinton would be a “force multiplier” on the world stage, allowing Obama to focus on domestic issues. (More Hillary Clinton stories.)
