Super cyclist Lance Armstrong fears a physical attack if he returns to race again in the Tour de France, reports the Independent. “There are some aggressive, angry emotions. My personal safety could be in jeopardy," said Armstrong, 37. French team directors "have encouraged people to take to the streets. It’s very emotional and tense.”

Steroid use by Armstrong is widely claimed in the French press, though he has always tested clean. He won the famous race a record seventh time in 2005, and has indicated he might enter again this summer following a three-year hiatus. A Belgian biker was punched by a French spectator in 1975 when it looked like he might beat out a French racer.
