Conrad Black isn't helping himself by refusing to back down now that he's been found guilty, the Times of London reports, and the mogul-slash-felon may even face extra jail time because of his continued impudence. A demonstration of contrition often leads to a shorter sentence, but Black isn't playing: "Any charge is unsatisfactory," the media mogul said after Friday's conviction.
As expected, Black vowed to appeal his conviction on four of the 13 charges against him, and his rhetoric matched his attitude before and during the 14-week trial, when he earned a warning for saying the prosecutors' case was "hanging like a toilet seat around their necks." He faces up to 35 years in prison at his November 30 sentencing. (More Conrad Black stories.)
