Much of the northern US was buried in snow yesterday, just in time for more cold weather coast-to-coast, CNN reports. Inclement conditions have left thousands without power, wreaked havoc on road and air travel just before the holidays, and caused at least one death when a Massachusetts man was crushed by a falling tree limb weighed down by snow.
Fierce gusts are expected to impair road visibility in Iowa today, and the wind chill could fall to 30 below zero throughout the Midwest. Blizzard warnings are in effect in Maine, which may get up to 18 inches of snow. Out West, Washington was hit with several feet of snow.
