Should Gov. David Paterson give Caroline Kennedy a chance to serve New York in the Senate? No! “Dynasties suck,” reasons Alex Pareene of Gawker, and we should take the opportunity to quash this one. Although it’s not fair, Caroline has become the left’s Sarah Palin, and it would be risky for a Democratic governor to appoint her for “no good reason” in light of the Blagojevich scandal.

Kennedy has recently made herself available to the media but dodged all substantive questions in a show of “gross entitlement” that has marked her “bizarre and mismanaged campaign.” Kennedy argues her wealth and light political history make her less susceptible to influence than other pols, that’s no reason to turn the Senate into the House of Lords. “Honestly,” Pareen writes, “the seat should just go to Fran Drescher.”
