In his first public message on the tragic loss of his teenage son, anguished actor John Travolta said his family is "heartbroken" by Jett's death, but will "cherish" the too-brief time they had with him "for the rest of our lives." Jett was "the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered," Travolta wrote on his website. He also thanked fans for their prayers and support.
"It has meant so much to us," he noted. "It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future." A gallery section of the site is packed with photos of a smiling Jett, who was found unconscious in the Travoltas' Bahamas vacation home Friday, and later died. Officials believe he hit his head during a seizure. An autopsy is being conducted today.
