Huckabee Keeps On Running

Almost a year removed from the presidential campaign trail, Mike Huckabee is as busy as ever, with a Fox News show, a book tour, and a crowded speaking schedule. Tagging along with "the most likable politician I've ever met" as he visits suburban New Jersey, AJ Jacobs of Esquire finds the former Arkansas governor a paradoxical package. "If Sarah Palin is a pit bull," he writes, "Huckabee is a Labrador retriever."

Huckabee seems to bring smiles and laughter wherever he goes, but the Baptist minister turns polemical when the subject of same-sex marriage arises. "In Huckabee's world, gay people are the oppressors and conservative Christians are the victims," Jacobs observes. Whether he'll be able to share that view beyond cable TV and hotel ballrooms remains to be seen. "I ask him later whether he's going to run for president again," Jacobs writes. "Huckabee says he honestly doesn't know."
