A South Korean woman pleaded to be rescued with her fellow hostages yesterday, saying all of church volunteers being held captive by the Taliban are sick and the situation is growing worse. Her captors listened to her conversation with an Afghan reporter, the BBC reports; the 32-year-old nurse wept as she spoke in Korean and Farsi, according to the Independent.

"Tell them to do something to get us released," the captive said. "We're all sick and we have a lot of problems." The group of 23 aid workers was kidnapped outside Kabul last week, and a pastor was shot dead earlier this week. The Taliban is threatening to kill more of the hostages, who are mostly women.
