Pakistani police have arrested an al-Qaeda suspect believed to have links to the 2005 London transit bombings, acting on a tip from the US. Zabi ul Taifi, a Saudi national, was among seven al-Qaeda suspects caught in a raid near Peshawar, reports the AP. An unmanned spy plane and three helicopters hovered over the area during the raid, while US intelligence agents watched the capture from a nearby car.

Pakistan's interior minister said the police had caught "high value targets," but declined to confirm that Taifi was linked to the 7/7 attacks, which killed 52 people when bombs exploded on three Underground trains and a bus. But another official said, "We have reasons to believe that we got the right man who had played a role in the 2005 attacks in London." (More al-Qaeda stories.)
