'Picnik' Lets Photographers Edit Anywhere
Designed for the casual photographer and hobbyist, Picnik requires no purchase or expertise.   (press.picnik.com)

Extolling the new crop of slick, easy-to-use Web-based applications, the Wall Street Journal's Walter Mossberg singles out  "Picnik"—a new free alternative to traditional desktop editing programs. Picnik lets photogs on the go add simple edits like cropping, resizing, and color correction without installing anything.

Picnik smoothly integrates with popular services like Flickr and Facebook. Mossberg  praises the site's "beautiful and responsive user interface," though misses an option for online photo storage. He finds Picnik "elegant," although cautions that it can't compete with heavy-hitters like Photoshop—and doesn't try to. (More Flickr stories.)
