Super Bowl media day, traditionally one of the weirdest episodes on the sports calendar, came and went yesterday with nary an international incident and less exposed flesh than usual. True, a Telemundo reporter traipsed about in drag, while another very serious journalist busily measured players’ biceps. "Last time, I got interviewed by a hand puppet," a disappointed Steeler told the Tampa Tribune. "I haven't had anything like that this year."

About 3,000 journalists were on hand, a crush so impressive that many players turned their own video cameras on the crowd. “I want to be able to watch it later and take it all in,” said Steelers backup QB Charlie Batch. "It reminds me of National Geographic," said a Pittsburgh lineman. "When they show the ants coming out of the anthill." (More Super Bowl stories.)
