Obama Girls' Media Coverage Stays Sane—So Far

The paparazzi love Sasha and Malia Obama—their dad is the world’s biggest celeb, and they’re adorable. This can only mean trouble, right? Maybe not, writes Belinda Luscombe in Time. Tabloids seem to stepping gingerly around privacy concerns so far. And what's more, the media-savvy first family seems to have an "unspoken agreement" with the popular press.

"The Obamas have made it clear they want to be open with the public,” says OK! Magazine’s editor. “They're going to become the national family." Of course, anything-goes outlets would run anything they get their hands on, but most insiders expect an easygoing relationship. "If they're out and we can get a shot, it's because they don't mind us being there," an agency CEO says. "The Secret Service guys are cool as long as you don't do anything dangerous."
