A judge ruled today that Casey Anthony’s defense team must have access to the scene where Caylee Anthony’s body was found, but denied a request for information from an unofficial search group, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Attorneys for the mother accused of murdering her young daughter had sought access to records from Texas EquuSearch, whose volunteers searched areas near where the body was found.

Defense attorneys were also rebuffed in efforts to remove prosecutors from the case. The defense alleged that a complaint against attorney Jose Baez, filed with the Florida Bar by someone from the state attorney’s office, was an attempt to deny Anthony right to council. The defense may also seek a change of venue, fearing the jury pool may be prejudiced against Anthony. (More criminal trial stories.)
