Van Halen: Roth Reunion Solid, New Music on Way

After grossing $93 million on tour with former frontman David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen tells Rolling Stone he wants the band back together permanently: “Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too.” He plans a summer get-together with Roth, whose last Van Halen recording was 25 years ago.

The boys have a busy few months ahead. Son Wolfgang, 17 and a “permanent part of Van Halen,” is graduating from high school; Roth is pursuing his work as an EMT (really); and Van Halen just launched a website where fans can buy replicas of all things Eddie. “I just think my tennis shoes are cool,” he says. “Everything I put out is exactly identical to what I use.” (More bands stories.)
