Amanda Knox’s ex-boyfriend, accused of a role in the killing of British student Meredith Kercher, made an emotional speech in his own defense in an Italian court today, saying he “wouldn’t harm a fly,” the Guardian reports. Raffaele Sollecito, 24, called his circumstances “unreal," adding, "I have been in prison for a year and three months. But I have nothing to do with this situation.”
“I regard myself as the victim of a judicial error,” Sollecito said. Meanwhile, lawyers for Knox, who is also charged in the murder, tried to bar a note she wrote from being used as evidence. The note confirms some of what Knox said in a statement that was ruled unusable. But the judge ruled the note, which says Knox was at the crime scene, fair game, the Times of London reports.
