Superstar polar bear Knut has been put on a diet after growing too fat to be weighed on the Berlin Zoo's scales. Knut's Brando-style transformation came about from eating too many croissants and second helpings of meat and fish, leaving him a visibly stuffed bear. "Knut has become noticeably round," says the zoo's vet.

At nearly 8 months old, the onetime cuddly cub weighs about 130 pounds (60kg), Der Spiegel reports. Besides having his rations of buttery pastries cut, he'll also start an exercise program to bridge the gap between his natural environment and the tight quarters of the zoo, Reuters reports.
