Police are close to an arrest in the case of Chandra Levy, killed 8 years ago in a case that made national headlines, reports ABC affiliate KGO-TV of San Francisco. Authorities have told her parents about the break. The suspect is a Washington inmate named Ingmar Guandigue, says NBC's WRC-TV in Washington. He reportedly told a fellow inmate that he’d killed Levy after seeing her several times in the DC park where her body was found.
"Your child is dead and gone and it's painful but we're glad that the police and people are doing something, investigating, and making a difference so someone is not on the street to do it again," said Levy's mother. Guandigue is in prison for assaulting two women in the same park. Levy, 24, had been romantically involved with married Congressman Gary Condit, raising some eyebrows, but he was never named an official suspect. (More Chandra Levy stories.)
