Tonya Harding paid for the notorious attack on Nancy Kerrigan in part with George Steinbrenner’s money, according to George, a new Steinbrenner biography. The Boss was a major patron of young Olympians, including Harding, according to the book, and some of his donations funded “the hit.”

“When George heard that, he wanted to hunt down Harding and get his money back,” writes author Peter Golenbock. Steinbrenner’s reps, however, say they’ve neither record nor recollection of giving Harding cash. (More George Steinbrenner stories.)
