(AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais) As fashionistas everywhere watched anxiously, two of the world’s most glamorous first ladies met today in France. High-fashion lover Carla Bruni-Sarkozy would never be seen in the available-to-the-masses brands Michelle Obama sometimes wears (think J Crew). Yet Michelle won the first round of today’s face-off in a cheerful, flowery coat, writes Rachel Holmes in the Guardian. It stood in contrast to Carla's choice of gray. "Compared to Michelle, Carla actually looks a bit washed out and (we can't believe we're about to say this) prim and proper," writes Holmes. "A flash of color or a fashionable statement accessory could have taken this outfit to another level—but that's just not Carla's style."
